I am trying to install SQL Server 2008 and the setup indicated it needed a
hotfix and so I said ok and it installed the hotfix. Then it said I had to
restart but the system did not restart so I manually did a Windows restart.
Now I cannot install because it fails every time I try with the message
"Needs restart". How can I get around this? Thanks.

Is that the entire message? "Needs restart" You might also check the event
log for errors.
