Default Remove SQL 6.5 From an XP PC - 05-19-2004 , 03:06 PM

How can I remove SQL 6.5 from an XP machine. I think my
installation is corrupt as I can't connect to any server
as it tells me they don't exist due to a network error.
Other users are okay. Network support have checked and I
was able to connect to an alternative server, but today
that stopped working too. I want to remove it so that I
can try re-installing, but it doesn't show in add/remove
programs.
Any ideas/help would be appreciated.

The following article ahs the steps:

INF: Manually Removing SQL 6.5 After Failed Install
http://support.microsoft.com/default...&Product=sql2k

The problem may not be the installation of SQL Server 6.5 but the
installation of the SQL Server 6.5 connectivity pieces.

Check out the following registry key;

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\MSSQLSERVER\Client\Connect To

and make sure the DSQUERY is set to DBNETLIB.

You are aware that SQL Server 6.5 is not officially supported on Windows XP.
