Jeff,

I thought you had SQL 2000 not 7.0. I don't know for sure if 7.0 EE can be
installed on 2KServer. My guess would be no and the error seems to support
that. I don't have 7.0 BOL anymore but what does it say in the Maximum
Capacity Specs sections?

Great, but when I try to install it, I get the error

I tried running WINNTUP.exe from the 4.0 Enterprise CD but
I don't think it works for 2K. I am running 2K server SP3.

Thanks.

Hi guys. I believe SQL 7 EE requirement was that the OS had to be WINNT4
Enterprise, only the standard and small business editions can run on NT4
std.
For Win 2000 SQL 7 therefore requires the 2K Advanced Server edition.

This link suggests says as much
http://www.mssqlcity.com/Articles/Ad...0InstProbl.htm
(have confirmed the NT4E requirement in BOL7 as well)

This behaviour is a bit daft if you think about it, which is probably why MS
changed the OS requirement for SQL 2000 EE i.e. WINNT4 and 2K standard is ok
as well as NT4E and 2KAdv.
