AFter I ran the Visual Studio 2008 Service Pack Preparation Tool
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en
then reinstalled VS SP1 SQL Server Installed, though with bad media
errors for redist.cab and sql.com. The version numbers for VS 2008
didn't change Visual Studio Team System 2008 Version 9.0.30729.1 SP
Version 3.5 SP1, but there were different hot fixes installed, and
this was new:

The registry DWORD
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\DevDiv\vs\Se rvicing\9.0\SP was
0, now its 1.
I didn't run the Visual Studio 2008 Service Pack Preparation Tool
before the first time I installed VS SP1, that may have been the
source of my sql server 2008 installation problem.
Thanks,
glen

I have Visual Studio Team System 2008 Version 9.0.30729.1 SP Version
3.5 SP1. Is there a service pack I can install that will pass SQL
Server 2008 Installation Rules? Do I need to uninsall VS 2008?
You can install SQL 2008 on a machine that does not have VS 2008.
And you can install SQL 2008 on machine that has has VS 2008 SP1.
But you cannot install SQL 2008 on a machine that has VS 2008. You
need to find Service Pack1 for VS 2008. If you have already applied it,
you need to reapply it. Maybe you have reconfigured VS since then.
