Default OS reinstalled SQL on seperate drive - how to recover - 07-06-2003 , 11:14 AM

Here is the situation:

OS (2K Server) was completely hosed and required that the
OS be reinstalled. No, only the databases and medical
software data folders are backed up.

SQL resides on a separate drive and is still intact. How
do I go about installing SQL to get this server back in
business? Since the registry was replaced by the OS
reinstallation (I do have the last good registry files
from the ERD procedure) running the SQL installation will
assume no exising databases - an initial installation. Am
I resigned to installing SQL fresh and then
importing/restoring the data or does someone know of a way
to install so that my existing databases will be
recognized and attached?

I've given over my entire 3-day weekend to getting this
thing back on-line for Monday morning and this is the
final piece of the puzzle. Any and all help will be well
appreciated.

Thanks!

Fantastic. I was able to run the installation of SQL and
it found and attached my existing databases without a
problem.

I thank you for your feedback, especially on a Sunday.

You should be able to just re-run the setup for sql
server and that should
get it back and running.
