I have read every thread I can find in this feed and cannot locate one solution that will fix my problem. I have a Server 2008 R2 installation and am trying to install SQL 2008 Enterprise on it. I continue to get the following: Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 installation has failed. SQL Server 2008 setup requires .NET Framework 3.5 to eb installed. I got my copy of SQL Server through my TechNet subscription. .NET 3.5.1 is installed per the feature installer within Server 2008. I have removed and reinstalled .NET 3.5 a dozen times with reboots between each. I still am unable to install SQL 2008. I even replaced the netfx35x64.exe within the install folder like was suggested in another thread concerning something like this (except it was for SQL 2008 Express on a Vista box). I need help. Thanks. |

I will then touch base and let everyone know if it took care of the problem. |

Now I'm getting desperate and am ready to fall back to Server 2003. Now I'm sure you are all reading these one sided conversations with glee. I rebuilt my system for no reason. The installation file for dotnetfx35.exe is corrupt in the downloadable installation. I found the resolution on a non-Microsoft site. I had to download the latest dotnetfx35.exe from MS Downloads and replace it. That got me past that step, now I'm getting a different error: Unable to open Windows Installer file 'G:\InstallationSources\SQL2008\x64\setup\sql_engi ne_core__inst_msi\sql_engine_core_inst.msi'. |
