The above problem is well known: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/968749/en-us However the workaround http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301 no longer applies. Any idea how to solve this? Is it possible (and recommended) to uninstall MSXML6 via control panel? |

But it sounds a serious issue to me if the workaround no longer works. In which way is it no longer applicable? |

But it sounds a serious issue to me if the workaround no longer works. In which way is it no longer applicable? quote This article previously contained a link to the Windows Installer Cleanup utility (MSICUU2.exe). If you were directed to this article to solve a problem installing a product other than Microsoft Office, please contact your software manufacturer for installation support on the product. While the Windows Installer Cleanup utility resolved some installation problems, it sometimes damaged other components installed on the computer. Because of this, the tool has been removed from the Microsoft Download Center. The Fix it Solutions in this article provide the ability to fully remove Office 2003, 2007 and 2010 suites without damaging other Windows components. /quote |

Looks like one group in Microsoft pulled the rug for another. I've posted a message to our internal MVP forum. I can't say how long it will take before I get a response or how long it takes before something happens. You could open a case with Microsoft and ask. I think they would have to be really mean to charge you... |

No response from Microsoft yet, but a fellow MVP pointed me to http://forums.techguy.org/attachment...97/msicuu2.zip which is said to include the missing utility. Please observe that I can in no way vouch for that the link includes exactly the software that you are looking for, and least of all that it is not infected with something harmful. (And beware that viruses these days rarely flatten your hard disk. They just wait for instructions, and then one day they are sent into action to send spam or conduct a DDOS attack against someone.) -- Erland Sommarskog, SQL Server MVP, esquel (AT) sommarskog (DOT) se Links for SQL Server Books Online: SQL 2008: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/sqlserver/cc514207.aspx SQL 2005: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/sqlserver/bb895970.aspx SQL 2000: http://www.microsoft.com/sql/prodinf...ons/books.mspx |
