Default Installing SQL Server2000 on WindowsXP - 04-18-2007 , 12:12 PM

Hi All,

I have a system with WindowsXP Professional and would like to install SQL
Server2000 on it as a server. When I tried to install it, the installation
program reported that I could only install the client.
This is a metrology tool that will be connected to our network so the
scientists can view the data in the database, viva an in-house application.

Is there anyway around this problem?

Thanks,
Gloria

Hi again,

I did some researching on this site and found out that I must install the
Developer Edition when using WindowsXP.
Can I distribute the system with the Developer Edition?
Where can I find the differences between the two versions? I need to be
able to connect to the system over a company network to access the database.

Thanks Again,
Gloria

Hi Gloria,

Developer and Enterprise Versions have the same caracteristics, but has one
major diference: Licensing!!!!

You can't distribute an Database with thar version. Techincal it's possivel,
but due to the licensing it's not.

If you Database is smaller than 2Gb, and you have 5 or less clients, you can
install MSDE 2000 Version. IT'S FREE!!!
