Default Installing SQL Server - 08-14-2009 , 10:39 AM

I tried to install SQL Server 2005, it seems to install with no errors, but
the database engine is not installed.

During the install, do you select database engine as one of the option that
you want to install? Have you look at the services mmc and try to search for
SQL Server service? What happen if you try to re-do the installation of the
database engine.

How do you know it's not installed? Maybe it's just turned off or can't
start?

Run the installation again, but pay attention to the screens. The Setup
for SQL 2005 is a little deceivious. If it finds that it can't install
the engine for some reason, it will still go along and install the tools.
It will pop up a screen telling that it will skip the engine, but if
you just click Next, you may not pay attention.
