Hi, I try to install SQL 2008 Developer on Vista 64 bit, which should be possible. However I alwas get an error like the following: Unable to open Windows Installer file 'G:\x64\setup\sql_engine_core_inst_loc_msi\1033\sq l_engine_core_inst_loc.msi The file is there and I tried to download it 3 times from my MSDN subscription to make sure that it is not corrupted during its download, but without succes. Probably the file is corrupted at the source? I have seen several people on the internet that have this problem; but not one that has a solution as yet. Can anybody help? Thanks, Jan |

Aaron, G:\ was a virtual clon drive that mapped the iso on a local NTFS disk. I also suspected this, so I opened the iso and copied the files directly on a local disk but this gave the same result. thanks, Jan "Aaron Bertrand [SQL Server MVP]" wrote: What kind of drive is G:\? Did you try to burn that ISO to a CD\DVD and giving another try for the installation? I experienced this kind of problems not in SQL Server ISO files but other ISO files. Some of those setups did not work properly when running them through a program like Alcohol or PowerIso or VM but they worked when I burnt them on a CD\DVD. Another minor possibility that comes to my mind, did you update your Windows Installer to the lastest version which was 4.x? -- Ekrem Önsoy - SQL Server MVP "Jan" <Jan (AT) discussions (DOT) microsoft.com>, iletisinde şunu yazdı, news:CA33A87F-7F1F-47BD-8DA6-E8B50D21C611 (AT) microsoft (DOT) com... Indeed burning a DVD did the trick! But I don't really understand why this should make a difference. |
