Vlad,

You need to install SQL7 first.Thus it becomes the default instance bearing
the machine name.After that you can install SQL2000 , it being the named
instance bearing the name format <machinename>\<named instance name>.The
client tools like QA ,EM etc would be of the latest version.

One box can have multiple instances of SQL Server.
MSSQLServer is alwyas the default, others can coexist as long as they are
uniquely identified by an instancename.
