Default HELP MS Please Fix Install/Uninstall Issues - 11-27-2005 , 12:31 PM

I ran the Windows Installer cleanup utility, to begin with because I
uninstalled the beta .net framework before I uninstalled SQL2005 beta
software.

Now the SQL beta programs do not show in the uninstaller but they do in
control panel.

I need a fix for this situation. Even if I have to cleanout the registy by
hand, but Microsoft needs to provide a solution since so many people have had
this issue. Can you provide a link to the beta and have me reinstall and then
uninstall correctly ? I can't find these programs anywhere.

Thanks.

I don't think it would be a very good idea to keep links to old beta
versions around. People could download them and install by mistake.

If you don't like your machine being screwed up by beta software, don't
install beta software, or confine them to virtual machines.

And if you install beta software on your main partition, be careful to
read the instructions before you uninstall. And make sure to keep your
media with the beta software.

Which beta version did you have installed? If you had the September CTP, I
believe that the RTM version of the .Net Framework works with the September
CTP. (But not any older betas/CTPs.)

Well the beta has an auto expiration so I don't think it would do any harm.
I'm just saying this is looking like the only way I may be able to fix the
problem. Either that or if I could find the right beta framework. I even
forgot that I had installed it because by the time I did it had expired and I
couldn't even run it. I started uninstalling and had a few items uninstalled
but must have been distracted by children, and life so when the release
version came out I forgot that I had not uninstalled it completely.

I don't think it was Septembers as I already tried installing the RTM beta
and it still will not uninstall.

Any other suggestions are appreciated. I think I am going to try regclean as
it may not be on disk.
