I have repeatedly attempted to install SQL Server 2008 Edition on an
x86
box running Windows vista Ultimate and get the Following Error " Sql Server
Setup requires .Net Framework 3.5
to be installed.

Framework .Net 3.5, Framework .Net 3.5 SP1,VS 2008, SP1 for VS 2008 are
already installed.

I would reapply SP1 for VS 2008 and see what happens. Maybe you added
some more item tom VS after you applied SP1.
