Default don't know which option should use - 07-03-2003 , 02:57 PM

We plan to install a SQL server 2000 on a windows 2003
server which we will use as a web server.

We will use the webserver as a standalone server, so no
active directory is intalled on it. we use it as a
workstation, so there is windows administrator account

and I guess no domain.

1. During the process of installation, the screen of
services accounts:

Shall I choose local system account?

2. at the authentication mode, what is the better option:

windows authenticate mode or Mixed mode.

Suggestions will be appreciated.

Choose local system account only if your server will not
have to access resources on another box (example: a mail
server to send emails)

Windows authentication is supposed to be more secure and
reccomended if you can get away with it (vendor apps,
etc.) but make sure you set an SA password anyway as a
simple registry hack will turn a box that is windows
authent to mixed and if you left the SA password blank...

A little confused. So you suggest to use windows
authenticate. but during process of installation when I
choose the windows authenticate, there is no place for me
to set the sa password. I mean the password field is
disabled, only when I choose mixed, then it let me set
password.

Thank you.
