Hi, I am trying to load MSDE 7 onto a client's machine which I have done many times before, as our main product utilises it. I have run into a problem on both of their servers which they are prepared to allow us to use, although I have never seen this one before. I am using a .iss unattended setup file, during the installation I recieve the following error: "Error - cannot load the SQL Server Setup (87): C:\Docume~1\Admini~1\Locals~1 \Temp\pftB8~tmp\setup\sqlstp.exe Command line length exceeded - place the files referenced by the -f1 and -f2 command line arguments in a shorter path." I tried changing the tmp and temp environment variables, to no avail even after rebooting. If I browse to this path whilst the error is on screen I can copy the setup files to another location with a shorter path-would running the install from there perhaps work around the issue? The problem I have is that both the servers are currently being used for other purposes and the client (rightly) doesn't want to let us play around with his live servers, I cannot reproduce the problem elsewhere. Any help on this would be gratefully accepted! Thankyou David Hartry . |
