Default Clone Virtual Server with Sysprep - 08-14-2009 , 02:47 PM






I am looking to create a virtual image that contains Window Server 2003 and
SQL Server 2005. Once all the patches are in place I would like to sysprep
the server to make deployment easier. The problem that I face is the renaming
of the server. Does anyone know a easy way to rename the SQL Server, all the
registry locations, local Windows group names, and everything else that would
need to be changed.

I did some research on it, since I was thinking of doing the same thing, but
decided to just sysprep the Windows Server, without SQL Server.

Anyway, during the research, I ran into some article about this changing the
name of SQL, here's one of the link, but I personally have not tried it:
