Default Cannot Install SQL Server 2008 Reporting Services on Windows 2008 - 09-25-2009 , 03:47 PM

I have not been able to install SQL 2008 Enterprise x64 Reporting Services on
Windows Server 2008 x64.

First, I tried to upgrade the OS on my development server that was running
SQL 2008 on Windows Server 2003 to Windows Server 2008. The upgrade worked
but I could not get Reporting Services to run (I'm not certain if RS was
working before the upgrade). Next, I tried installing a brand new instance of
SQL 2008 on that server and everything installed OK except Reporting
Services. It could not start the necessary services.

Then I tried rebuilding the entire server from scratch, installing Windows
Server 2008 Enterprise x64 and then SQL Server 2008 Enterprise x64. Once
again, everything installed EXCEPT Reporting Services. Once again, the
services would not start.

During the install and after it, running the System Configuration Check does
not produce ANY errors. Everything passes.

Does anyone have any idea what is going on with Reporting Services? I've
tried everything I can think but cannot getting reporting services to start.
And I have not been able to find any helpful information on the internet. Any
help would be greatly appreciated.
