I was trying to install SQL 2005 Express Edition on a 2003 sp1 enterprise
server stand alone. Now this is a clean install with sp1 on it and .net 2.0
fresh from the net. Now i can go through the install and when i get to the
SQL Server Databse Install it fails saying that the MSQLSERVER service could
not be started. I was using a local system admin account with full control
permissions and it would not allow me to start the service. I looked through
the SQL logs and it had an error 1076. I tried starting it manually and it
said the service started and then stopped because it didn't have any work to
do. But it needs to be started for the install to complete. So i figured i
would wipe the server and connect it to the domain to try and put a domain
account and see if that was the issue well it failed at that same step again
and i manually went through and set the account to log on as the domain admin
account that was part of the admins, domain admins, and enterprise admins an
it still failed to start. I am actually really lost by this i have tried a
lot of things but nothing seems to work. i have look through this newsgroups
and MS support and can't find anything else to solve this issue.I even tried
through a virtual PC program to see if that would work just for the hell of
it and that didnt work either. I don't know what is wrong. any help is
appreciated. |
