Hello
I have server 2003 w/4gb ram and SQL2005
I have the /PAE switch in my boot.ini
how, or is it recommended to, use AWE on SQL I am new to this AWE

Since you have only 4GB, use the /3GB switch instead. You have to save some
memory for the OS.

In addition to what Tom stated you don't need the /PAE switch either since
you only have 4GB.

I would be careful with /3GB switch because it decreases the memory reserved
for the system in 2 times - from 2 GB to 1 GB, but some buffers decrease in
more than two times. As the result the disk related and network related
operations can be significantly slowed down or they can even start failing.
