Jac also had Setup failing on MSXML. He tried http://support.microsoft.com/kb/968749 and that worked for him. -- Erland Sommarskog, SQL Server MVP, esquel (AT) sommarskog (DOT) se Links for SQL Server Books Online: SQL 2008: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/sqlserver/cc514207.aspx SQL 2005: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/sqlserver/bb895970.aspx SQL 2000: http://www.microsoft.com/sql/prodinf...ons/books.mspx |

Thanks... I am installing ACT and the install disk is installing SQL. I have tried it a few times with the same result. Would I be better off installing SQL outside the ACT install and then install ACT. Funny, I thought ACT was a decent program and not one of the poorly written ones. Cost enough ... but is screwing up the install each time. Appears to be a waste of mney |

Cost enough ... but is screwing up the install each time. Appears to be a waste of mney First of all, I have no idea what ACT is. But whatever ACT is, I think it is innocent. The mess comes from the security fix described in http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=954459 and which is referred to in the log file. This security fix came out a few years after SQL 2005 came out, and apparently there is a conflict with SQL Setup. As I said, another poster in this newsgroup also ran into problems with installing SQL 2005 in exactly this part of Setup. He tried the steps described in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/968749 and was able to install SQL 2005 successfully. I pointed to you this KB article in my previous post: did you look at it? I can't vouch for that it will work for you, but since it is worked for Jac, I think you should give it a go. -- Erland Sommarskog, SQL Server MVP, esquel (AT) sommarskog (DOT) se Links for SQL Server Books Online: SQL 2008: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/sqlserver/cc514207.aspx SQL 2005: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/sqlserver/bb895970.aspx SQL 2000: http://www.microsoft.com/sql/prodinf...ons/books.mspx |
