Default Adding named SQL instance to existing 2008 cluster - 08-19-2009 , 09:56 AM

Hello all,

I would like to add a named SQL instance to my existing SQL 2008
cluster. I do not want to add an additional machine to the cluster,
just an instance that can fail back and forth between servers.

Currently, I have two machines in my cluster, with two named
instances- INSTANCE1, INSTANCE2. I would like to add INSTANCE3 and
INSTANCE4 to this cluster, but the installer is lackluster in its
descriptions.

Thanks for any help!

No problem. All you need is a new disk resource, a new IP address, and you
are golden.

I understand that I need a new IP, network name, and disk resource.
What I'm asking is what is the actual procedure to follow in the
installer. The language the installer app uses is not exactly clear.
I've already got network and disk resources waiting.

Just go through the installation procedure like you usually would with
creating a new clustered instance. Nothing special.
