Default 2000 install and default instance name - 12-15-2005 , 11:26 AM

dumb question but...

i finished a default 2000 install.
in em, the name is "local" but i have other installs that have the
the server name as the instance name. the service manager has
the correct name of the server and is running. to my knowledge,
the other installs used "default"... not a named instance. where is
the name coming from?
