Hi, One of the nice features of SQL2008 is the ability to give a color to the connection. We have setup an SQL2008 Central management server to connection to our mostly SQL2005 and SQL2000 servers. We set the connection colors so we could have a simple way of seeing if we were connection to say a production server. After saving this information after logging off and then logging back on the color info has disappeared. Does this only work for SQL2008 servers or is it a known bug? Thanks Chris |

My connections to a particular 2005 server in our data center remain green. I have been running SSMS 2008 since before RTM, and I can assure you I have logged off many times in that span. :-) On 10/7/09 10:11 AM, in article #G2Ghg1RKHA.1796 (AT) TK2MSFTNGP02 (DOT) phx.gbl, "Chris Wood" <anonymous (AT) microsoft (DOT) com> wrote: Hi, One of the nice features of SQL2008 is the ability to give a color to the connection. Aaron, Where is the settings saved on the server after you make changes to the Central Management Server registered servers settings? Maybe we have a problem with saving though if we add any new servers to our structure they are still there after a logoff/logon. I am not sure where it is stored, though I expect it is in the *local* binary file (not on the server), along with things like the recent "connect to" server list (which is not exposed to us). I blogged about that specific thing here : http://is.gd/43umS and there is a Connect item for it : http://is.gd/nRXw On 10/7/09 5:00 PM, in article uUMOCF5RKHA.1372 (AT) TK2MSFTNGP02 (DOT) phx.gbl, "Chris Wood" <anonymous (AT) microsoft (DOT) com> wrote: Aaron, Where is the settings saved on the server after you make changes to the Central Management Server registered servers settings?
