SQL Server 2005 SP2 support question - 09-24-2009 , 04:31 PM
I'm having a support discussion regarding sql server 2005 SP2. The question
is what kind of support will microsoft provide after 1/14/2010 (the retire
date for SP2 based on this link:
I'm assuming support is based on the verbage in the following document:
Basically I think if we call Microsoft for assisted support they will say it
is no longer availalbe for SP2.
Is my "assumption" correct? I my basic summorization of the "call" support

I checked with my TAM and he said no support but I bet if they find a
security problem it would be patched. I'm trying to find out about SP3

This is from my TAM. SQL2005 support will end April 12th 2011 except for
security fixes. I doubt we would see an SP4 but if we did SP3 support ends
12 months after SP4 was released.
Like you our shop needs to react quickly as we run mostly SP2 builds.
