Default SQL monitoring tools - 10-05-2005 , 07:51 AM

BlankHi,

Anyone knows a good utility that could monitor SQL services on a server?
sometime sqlserver agent service stopped caused all jobs can not be
executed, SQL mail also rely on this service so I can't get notification on
that. any performance monitoring tools are also welcome.

Thanks,

Chong

When you are looking for a complete package take a look at Microsoft
operations manager MOM...

there is also a workgroup edition for a max of 10 servers.

There are management packs for sql server.

http://www.microsoft.com/mom/default.mspx

And when any service on the computer is stopped without a reason MOM creates
a warning...

Best regards

Floris

if it's just 1 service on 1 server you can set recovery actions on the
service in computer manangement:
write a script with a net send or use fi blat to generate an e-mail

It should be noted that there is not a Management Pack available for SQL
Server 2005 yet.
Despite Microsoft's promise that no server would be released without one ....

I thought it had been released but
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en
does indicate that it'll becoming soon. I'd suggest keeping your eye on that
page.
