Thanks again for the reply Andrew, good to put things in conext for us re
inserts , and granted its a non-clustered DATE index i use. Not too sure
about the benefits of clustering with DATE fields, will have a look online.

Erland, thank you for the info. I will need to do much more research n
testing before going down the SNAPSHOT ISOLATION route but i does sound like
a way forward.
