Thanks for your reply.

You are correct, this is an upgrade between two servers, one running
WIN2K server and SQL 2K, the other WINNT4 server and SQL 6.5.

Both servers have the same set up for users, and are both logged on with
the same log on and password with administrative rights.

Just to make sure we are talking about the same thing. If you look at
Control Panel - Services on the SQL Server 6.5 machine for the MSSQLSERVER
service; what is the log on account? Can this account map a drive to the
machine that has SQL Server 2000 on it? Look at the SQL Server 2000 service
and see if the same questions apply.

The bottom line is the account that is attempting to do the transfer (the
SQL Server startup account) does not have permission ot the other machine.
It should be the 6.5 machie that does not have access to the SQL 2000
machine.
