Default Cancelling an indexing process - 03-31-2006 , 04:24 PM

This came up in a recent conversation.

What happens if I reboot the computer while a reindexing process in
underway?

a. Acceptable
b. Not a best practice
c. Suicide

Any feedback is greatly appreciated :-)

Any work that was in process will need to be rolled back. This is not a
wise thing to do on purpose but it should handle it OK but may take a while
to roll back everything when it comes back up.

All transactions involved with the reindexing will begin rolling back
after the reboot. Count on the restore taking 2-3 times as long as teh
indexing operation had been going on.
