Default XMLA Interoperability - 07-17-2005 , 05:42 AM

Hi

I am trying to add Essbase support to our Olap reporting software
"Intelligencia" (www.it-workplace.com). The objective is to use the Microsoft
ADOMD.Net component as a client talking to Essbase via XMLA.

We are seeing some problems when the ADOMD.Net component issues
DISCOVER_SCHEMA_ROWSETS the error code returned is

Validation error: The 'http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema:element' element is
not supported in this context. An error occurred at , (19, 2).

Does anyone have experience with attempting this or any advice on alternate
approaches to the problem...

Essbase and Microsoft (and others in the XMLA Council) have only agreed on a
subset of the possible XMLA metadata expressions which can be created.
Providers are able to create their own set of extensions. My guess is that
you have ran into one of the XMLA extensions which ADOMD.Net uses.
