Default Writeback vs. Essbase - 05-31-2004 , 05:46 PM

Hello group:

I have test writeback capabilities in AS2000, but the response time is not
good at all if you make a change up in a dimension hierarchy.

Any sugestions of how I can make this work as if I were in Essbase.

Are there alternatives to make this work?

Xavier

Hi Xavier

I did a lot of testing on this before, and you have to strip your cube down to the minimum number of dimensions as possible. Also I removed any members of dimensions that were not connected to facts. You could consider merging dimension if you are having issues. I.e. instead of a product and customer dimension, create a merged customer product dimension. (You will have to use the customer product combinations that you find on your fact table to do this) You should end up with a dimension that has a low level of sparsity and should result in faster writeback operations

Have said all that, I now cannot get writeback to work at all!! See my ot
