Default Why is SP3 of AS not getting applied? :( - 06-18-2004 , 07:32 AM

Hi,

I was facing problems applying SP3 for Analysis Services so I removed it
(Analysis Services) and then re-installed the same.

I then tried to apply SP3 but I am still getting v8.00.382 for AS (which
represents SP1). I have tried a couple of things but it seems that SP3
is just not getting applied (for Analysis Services).

Clues anyone?

Thanks.

Hi,

Have a look at olapstp.log located in the windows directory. Most issues I
have seen are:

*AS service could not be stopped by instalaltion process >>> stop it
manually before upgrading

*files are locked by other ODBC applications>>>> stop the following
services for that and retry:

1. Change the "Startup Type" of the following services to "Manual":
- Internet Information Services (IIS) Admin
service
- FTP Publishing service
- Terminal Services
- Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) service
- Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI)
service
- SQL Server services, including the MSSQLServer service
- Antivirus servicesNote This list may not include all the services that
may cause this problem.

2. Restart the computer.

If you still have problem please post the olapstp.log and I will have a
look for you.

HTH,
Bas
