Default Web application and OLAP cube - 07-08-2004 , 09:19 PM

Dear all,

We would like to make a web and access data in OLAP cube using Visual Studio .NET. However, we do not want Excel-like pivot table format, i.e., "drag and drop" function. We want our users to choose items by web components, like listbox and radio buttons. Also, we want to restrict the people who access the database. For example, manager A can only read information about Store 1, 2, 3. Then, only Store 1, 2, 3 are shown in the web for him to choose. Where should I set the restriction in the web?

I hope somebody can give me some advices or guidelines for me. I greatly appreciate your help. Thanks!

Best Wishes,
Polly

Dear Jamie,

Thanks for your help.

Recently, I surffed MSDN in microsoft website. It seemed that one of the articles called "Build an OLAP Reporting App in ASP.NET Using SQL Server 2000 Analysis Services and Office XP" was what I wanted to do. However, I am not familar with java script and visual basics. This made me difficult to understand what the program was doing.

Anyway, thanks for your information.

Best Wishes,
Polly

In reply to your question about restricting what different people can see - this can be configured within Analysis Services using Security roles.

Are you still going to try and build your own solution then?
