Default using different hierarchies for different user - 08-13-2004 , 08:42 PM

I have a situation where i need to designate "user A" to use
"hierarchy 1" and "user B" to use "hierarchy 2" when they both open
the same cube in Excel. Can I control this based on their
authenticated ID? If so, How?

Thanks...

The closest thing Analysis Services has is dimension security. Look at BOL
for additional information. While it can't control entire hierarchies, you
can control what members in a dimensions that each user can see.

Dave,

I looked at Books Online for Hierarchies and Security and cant find
anything. Any hint of what I should be looking at?

Thanks,
Rico

you can simply disable the access to the dimension B to the user A and
dimension A to user B
This cause the user to see only accessible dimensions, but if a user A save
an excel document with a dimension A and send it to the user B, the
dimension disappear, and the user B must manually put the dimension B in the
report.

does this answer your problem?
