Default Using 2000 ADOMD.NET sample app with 2005 AS - 09-28-2005 , 10:55 AM

Is it possible to use the 2000 ADOMD.NET sample app with 2005 Analysis
Services?

I can't find any sample applications that work with 2005.

I can't even the sample project that is referred to in the 2005 AS
tutorial documentation.

In the MSDN Webcast: Building Business Intelligence Applications with
ADOMD.NET, T. K. Anand said he would make the code available that he
used to demo, but I can't find it.

Any good sample code would be very helpful.

Thanks, Bren

Yes, the ADOMD.NET sample app works with SSAS 2005.

Thanks for your reply Kevin.

I am able to get the app to compile.

But I'm confused about what connection string to use to play with the
app.

I have only the default installed sample SSAS database.

What is the connection string I should use in the Connection Dialog to
access the AdventureWorksDW cube?

"Data Source=<server name>; Initial Catalog=<database name>" should work.

You will find that you will need to install PTS9 on the clients machines
for them to access AS 2005, but otherwise the "old" clients (like Excel,
ADOMD and ADOMD.NET clients) should work fine.

Thank you Kevin and Darren.

I'm just spinning up on using SSAS, OLAP, MDX, ADOMD.NET, Smart
Clients, VS2005, SQL 2005; it's all quite a lot to chew on at once.
