Default Upgrade of OLAP from Standard to Enterprise - 01-19-2004 , 05:03 AM

If I upgrade from Standard to Enterprise of OLAP is there
any complication?
Do I have to restore my Database after installation? Will
the data be lost after upgrade? Do I have to uninstall
the Standard install the Enterprise and restore the OLAP
database or do I have to create everything from scratch?

Best regards
Bjarni Sig

You should be able to follow these steps

1. Archive the OLAP database in Std. versio
2. Install/upgrade to Ent. version
3. Restore the OLAP db in Ent version

Everything should work without any problems

Hope this helps

Sunil

Hello
Thank you for your reply.
I have two additional questions?
Does it matter if I run SQLserver in Standard and OLAP in Enterprice?
When I run the Install does it give me the option of upgrade or does it
uninstall and install Enterprice edition?

Best regards
Bjarni Sig

Hello

Two questions I have for you:

Can I install Enterprise edition of OLAP without installing Enterprise
edition of MSSQL?

When upgrading the Olap to Enterprise edition will I get option to
upgrade or will it uninstall standard and install Enterprise edition?

Regards
Bjarni Sig

I am not sure if you can install SQL2000 (Std) and Analysis Server 2000 (Ent) on a single machine.

But at a technical level AS2000 is a product on its own, so you can install AS2000 and NOT install SQL2000 at all.

My choice would be to Archive the OLAP database and uninstall AS2000 (Std) and install AS2000 (Ent) and then restore from the archive.

Regards,

Sunil.
