Jim -

My question would be why do you want to do that? If you process a dimension
either via DSO or the interface, the counts are refreshed anyway. In direct
answer to your question, no, I've never used DSO to change existing counts.

Phil,

I thought that too -- but I have a dimension that I fully process using DTS,
and the leaf level member counts do not get updated automatically -- I have
to manually refresh via Enterprise Manager.

Thanks,

Jim

Something sounds funny. I'd write a DSO loop to do those counts after the
processing. If it's a full process of a dim, those counts should absolutely
be updated. A DSO count after that should show you the latest and greatest
counts.

To look at some sample code, download the latest SSABI distribution.
Install it on a computer. In the Tools folder there is a utility (source is
included) called the Partition Aggregation Utility. It is a modified version
of the Partition Manager (from the SQL Server 2000 Resource Kit). The code
that was added was to update these counts. The
SSABI download is here:
http://www.microsoft.com/sql/ssabi/default.mspx

Unfortuantely the PAU is not available as a separate download. Sorry.
