Default Unable to restore OLAP DB using msmdarch - 10-11-2006 , 04:10 AM

Hello,

I am aware to the fact that this question has been here asked a few
times already, but none of the posts have the exact same conditions as
my case and none of them actually worked for me.

I am trying to create a replica for my OLAP database on a secondary
server, by backing up and restoring using msmdarch.exe, on a daily
basis. When i am using the Analysis Manager i have no problem, works
fine. also i have no problem doing the backup part in both ways, either
Analysis Manager or msmdarch. but the restore never works with the
msmdarch, no matter what method i had used backing it up. The output i
receive when msmdarch restore fails is:

.. . .
10/10/2006 9:08:54 AM File: all users.sec (2KB)
10/10/2006 9:08:54 AM File: OLAPDB.REP (130KB)
10/10/2006 9:08:54 AM Removing old database information.
10/10/2006 9:08:55 AM Updating repository.
10/10/2006 9:08:59 AM Updating DSO.
10/10/2006 9:08:59 AM An invalid path has caused the Analysis Manager
to stop responding. Restart the Analysis Manager, and then enter a
valid path.
10/10/2006 9:08:59 AM DSO function failed.

Again, when i run it with the Manager, it run successfully to the end.

One more thing that may be important. I have another well AS known
problem and that is not be able to save the Analysis Manager properties
("Data Folder", etc.). I worked that out as was recommended here by
going directly to the registry values. i am pointing this out as it may
be related to my problem, being a "path" problem and all...

- I'm using an up-to-date AS 2000.
- i'm using the SQL repository, i have checked the SQL Profiler - no
authentication problems
- the restore is done from a local file and not from the network.

Thanks,
Ran
