Hi
I have a couple of IT user need to connect to an analysis servers but they
are getting the following Error:Unable to Connect to the registry on the
server (tst-sql02), or you are not a member of the OLAP Administrators Group
on this Server.

Explanation: This user has a windows XP SP2 desktop PC with analaysis
manager just instaled on his pc , he is a memeber of the local admin group on
his pc and a memeber of the OLAP group on the analaysis server "tst-sql02".
When he opens uo analysis manager and trys to register an analysis server he
gets this error !
the analaysis server is a windows 2000 server +analysis server 2000,SP3
Any ideas please ?

verify that the olap admin group as access to the olapserver registry entry
on the target server. (somewhere under the HKLM/software/microsoft key)
and verify if the XP firewall don't lock the access.
also verify that the olap admin group can access the $OLAPRepository shared
folder if you are using Access to store the AS metadata.

the problem part of us are working fine except two new Guys, the only thing
i can think of is because they have new XP sp2 installs while we had xp
originally and then did an inplace upgrade to sp1 sp2 ?/

(4'th is the best). I don't thing changing OS service pack will help.

We solved it by.
installing AS sp4 manger on the client pc's, server is still on AS sp3 server.
