Unable to open connection

Default Unable to open connection - 09-02-2004 , 11:45 AM






I have Analysis Services/SQL 2K. The version on the
analysis services is 8.00.382 (SP3?)
Connecting to it from Excel 2K/XP/2K3 (latest service
packs). When connecting from inside the firewall or from
laptops (that have been used on our network) through
cable/DSL - works fine. As soon as some external client
tries to connect - the excel file comes up but as soon as
you want to drill down on a dimension - the following
error shows up:
Unable to open connection.
After that it gives the user a box with the address of
the analysis services and login and password. After
supplying those - still doesn't connect.
I assume something needs to happen security-wise or
setting up a role.
Please help.

The initial error message is :
Initialization of the data source failed.
After the whole enter the server/login/password routine
the error message is :
Unable to open connection.
Unspecified error.

ROle for Everyone has been added to the cubes. Same
result.
