Default Unable to connect to AS through Analysis Manager - 05-05-2006 , 03:31 AM






I received the following error message when trying to connect to AS on
SQL2000:

Unable to connect to the registry on the server (SERVERNAME), or you
are not a member of the OLAP Administrators group this server.

Microsoft KB advise to install SP1 but we are on SP4.

Any ideas?

Connecting to AS uses your windows logon information to authenticate.
Therefore, the user in which you are logged into windows with, must have
access rights to connect to AS, such as by being in the OLAP Administrators
group.

You sometimes get this error when the client and server have different
service pack levels. If in doubt, try running SP4 on the client machine.
This will update the libraries that Analysis Manager uses to communicate
with the server.
