Default type value in advanced properties - 06-09-2004 , 03:48 PM

I was wondering what the type value is in the advanced properties for a
dimension as I don't seem to be able to find any information on it. It
lists bill of materials, geography, and channel as just a few of the types.
Just curious as to what effect this has on the dimension.

As of AS 2000, this value is largely ignored by AS. It is intended for the client applications.
The exception is Time. Some MDX functions will use whatever dimension is marked as Time to obtain defaults for optional parameters.
