Hi, I've asked this question in a different forum but it looks like this
group is more relevant to my problem, I apologize if this causes confusion.

I am trying to learn AS on my own by following the tutorial that comes with
the installation CD but I'm totally stuck. Using the foodmart database as
instructed by the tutorial I built the Sales cube. I was able to process the
cube and do everything without a hitch until I try to browse the cube.

After the cube is processed, each time I try to browse it I get an
"Unspecified Error". If I close and restart AS, the first attempt to browse
the Sales cube the error is "cube not found" any new attempts result in the
usual "unspecified error". I am able to brose the dimensions data with the
cube editor but never the cube itself. I've looked at all the security
issues I can think off, paths, deleted and rebuilt the cube, removed and
resinstalled AS, looked for referential integrity problems, etc. but nothing.


I'm running with SP4 whicht has a fix for a similar problem but no luck
there either.

Please help!

without trying to sound funny, you did install the ASSP4 and not just the
SQLSP4?
I came across a few people in the past that installed the SQLSP4 only,
assuming it covered AS.

Actually it IS funny. That's exactly what I did. I will say in my defense
though that the note said that SP4 was necessary without greater
clarification - fooled us newbies -. I'll try loading the correct SP4 and
post again if necessary. Thank you very much.
