Default Timeout - 11-08-2004 , 04:49 PM

Hi Freinds,
I am creating some cubes which are based on heavy views of db

I am getting timeout when building the cube.
SQL server timeout is 0 (unlimited)
Where else I can increase timeout for OLAP?

Thanks in advance,
Pat

By "building the cube", do you mean processing partitions and dimensions?

Look in the "Optimizing Analysis Services to Improve Processing Performance"
section of the Analysis Service Peformance Guide at:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/pro.../ansvcspg.mspx

Depending on the complexity of your cube, you should be running the optimize
schema tool (available as a menu item inside the cube editor). It can be
used to significantly reduce the complexity of the SQL queries that SSAS
issues when performing partition processing -- and usually that will also
reduce (or eliminate) timeouts except when doing distinct counts, large
dimensions, etc.
