Default Time Ordering and Pivot Table Service - 01-04-2006 , 08:24 AM

I have a shared Time Dimension with Year, Qtr, Month, Week. Our Fiscal
Calendar runs from Feb to Jan with Jan being Month 12. When I view the
dimension and the cube in Analysis Services, the order is correct - Qtr 4 is
Nov, Dec, Jan. However, when I view the cube over the intranet, Qtr 4 is
Jan, Nov, Dec.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Hi Jeanine,

Print out your lookup time table linked to the fact table date field.
You might see the error there in the Quarter column in relation to the
Month column. Also, the lookup time table can have an order column for
month.

Good Luck

I am not sure what you mean. It displays correctly when I browse the cube in
Analysis Services.

Hi,

The browser display in AS is not the same when viewed by an OLAP tool.
Seeing how the lookup table will tell you if quarters and months are
linked correctly.

Also, in the configuring the properties of the dimension there are two
tabs. The basic tab has a 'Member Key Column' which should be set to
the order column for the Months (Feb=1..to Jan=12) and order for the
Quarter column (Q1=1..Q4=4). Then the advanced tab has a 'order by
setting' pull down menu which should be set to 'key' not name.

Good Luck

Thanks for responding. If the dimension level was not set to Member Key
order, it would not display correctly in Analysis Services (the data browser
- once the cube is processed) The lookup table is not a consideration since I
am using MOLAP.
