Default Time dimension - non matching timestamps - AS2005 - 03-07-2006 , 05:42 AM

We have a database where production data is logged i.e. 5 times a day
(Qwater, Qoil etc, amount produced) in one table. On the other hand we have
analysis of samples taken posted in another table. Both tables have date/time
columns. These timestamps do not match exactly. By that I mean those records
cannot be joined and used in calculations unless the we have a matching
timestamp.

How is this scanorio best solved?
We're planning a time granularity of 5 minutes.

Can "Time intelligence" do anything with this?

Do we need to manually align all timestamps on 5 minute granularity in a
datawarehouse?

Can we accomplish anything in the new "Data source view"?

This is simplificated. Many similar tables exists, also with non uniform
timestamps.

If you can express the timestamps in SQL as rounded up/down to the 5 min
granularity then you can do this in the DSV using a calculated column or as
a named query.
