Did you specifically enable ASP processing under IIS? For security reasons,
ASP processing is by default disabled under IIS on Win2K3.

Hi Dave

Many thanks for your feedback. I already have reporting services
working on this Server which is doing fine and so is my ASP pages
reports run fine on the same default web site where I have deployed
ThinSlicer. I initially was running Office 2003 on the server and it
did not work I could not find MSOWC.DLL under the office 2003 install
thought that office 2003 was causing the problem I did a uninstall of
Office 2003 and installed Office 2000 and now I find MSOWC.DLL under
office 2000.

The following are the settings for the default Web Site:
- Local path is \inetpub\wwwroot
and is set for script source access and read access also the execute
permissions is scripts and executables.

Despite it when I execute the following error I get this error.

Please kindly explain what is going wrong next week I have a critical
project demo of our SQL Server Analysis Services implementation to the
business the ThinSlicer was a critical component that the business
needs for adhoc analysis. I would greatly appreciate your help. The
business will be disappointed without ThinSlicer.

Thanks
Simon

Which "ThinSlicer" is this? There have been several products and samples
that are called the same name.

The ThinSlicer is the software made available free of cost from
Microsoft COnsulting Services specifically by Richard Lees at the
following web Site:

http://thinslicer.net

you can download this it is a small download and it takes 2/3 minutes
to set it up and it works well. It is working on my Windows 2000
server and not on Windows 2003 server.

Can somebody else out there please install this package on your
Windows 2003 server and confirm if it works.

Thanks
Simon

Thinslicer does work on Win2K3. I have verified that.
In reviewing the post, I think that your problem is that you haven't
specifically enabled *ASP* under IIS. Reporting Services is an *ASP.NET*
application. Thinslicer is an *ASP* application, which is totally different.

ASP.NET applications are enabled by default, but ASP applications must be
specifically enabled.
Go to Start \ All Programs \ Administrative Tools \ Internet Information
Services (IIS) Manager
Expand your server and look at the "Web Service Extensions" folder.
Verify that "Active Server Pages" is ALLOWED.
You will see that Win2K3 has much finer-grain administrative controls.

To verify things even further you might create a smple ASP page in the same
virtual directory to verify that ASP is working OK.
Something like test.asp:

<%@ LANGUAGE="VBSCRIPT"%>
<head><title>Test .ASP Page</title></head>
<body>
Connectged to: <% = Request.ServerVariables("Server_Name") %>
</body>

Lastly, if this is OK. Try running the MDX Sample application on the Win2K3
server to verify that you have all of the pieces to have ADOMD run on it --
which is the underlying data access layer that ThinSlicer uses.

Hi Dave

Many thanks for kindly sparing time to analyse the error.

I have definitely configured ASP on this system as you indicated. The
test asp page you provided runs so as well all the MDX asp sample
pages run.

But it is only the ThinSlicer that fails with the above error not sure
what is causing the conflict.

Thanks
Simon
