Default Testing write back - 08-03-2005 , 01:22 PM

Can this be done using the sample app. At one point I believe I managed to
do so ..... but I cannot do it one more time....

Trying Tom conlons xp add in as well

http://www.mosha.com/msolap/util.htm

But I simply don't get it....where the heck is the data placed ? I can
actually modify and see the data change. Refresh of the table doesn't change
the data - it's still including my write back changes.

BUT when i make a total reprocess of the cube the data changes back without
the write back.

And this cube doesn't even have write back enabled so please tell me.

Where the heck are the data ?

Yes it can be done through MDX Sample application by using UPDATE CUBE
syntax.
Note, that unless you explicitly open and commit transaction (by using BEGIN
TRAN and COMMIT TRAN commands) - it will be just WhatIf data in your
session, and not written back.

Hi again

Is there a way to do whatif several times and then commit with what it looks
like at then end or do I have to commit per change if I want it into AS ?

Hi

If I were to control the write back would I do that before UPDATE cube or as
part of update cube with nested
IIF's

If the user does something on the date dimension I don't want it to allocate
I want it to choose a specific date
dimension (the first child).

You can do multiple UPDATE CUBE/SELECT/whatever before you issue COMMIT TRAN
