Default Surrogate Key vs Natural Key - 03-03-2004 , 10:13 PM






Hi All,

This is my first Analisys Service implementation, as I read the docs and
many posts here, they suggest Surrogate Key.

If I use Natural Key, what bad things that could happen ?

Has any body here gone live with Natural Key ? and succesfully ?

I've used both and you can certainly work with natural keys, your processing
of any cubes will be slower but the bigger danger is in the changing of the
app you are basing your natural key on, which may lead you to redesign your
