Default Suggestions/Questions about ProClarity - 04-14-2004 , 07:24 AM

Hi,

Has anyone been using a product called ProClarity? I recently read an
article and based on the reading, it appears that it's a pretty good
product and affordable too.

I will appreciate any information that you can share with me regarding
ProClarity (especially but not only limited to the following points):

1. How would you compare ProClarity with Microsoft Data Analyzer?

2. Other than SQL server and Analysis Services, does ProClarity require
any other software/service to be running?

3. I am a bit confused on this: Does ProClarity require a new product by
Microsoft called 'Reporting Services'? If yes, then what is the per
user/per license cost of Microsoft's Reporting Services

4. What is the cost of ProClarity (per user)

5. Is there a 'run-time' version of ProClarity too so that the developer
can develop the front-end and then deploy it on client machines without
requiring full installation of ProClarity and thus a full license
purchase

I will be grateful for your reply.

Thanks.

You can not compare ProClarity with Data Analyzer. Data Analyzer.
ProClarity is the winner here.

No.

No. ProClarity just made an addin for Reportin Services, as Reporting
Services does not have an integrated MDX builder.
ProClarity solved that with their components.

4. What is the cost of ProClarity (per user)
It depends on what you are buying.
Check with your local reseller.

This could be with use of Dashboard and you do not need installations, cause
it's web based.
As I said check with your reseller and you'll see that you can have a
desktop client or even a web based.

Peace,
Andrej

Compared with DataAnalyzer you should make a decision to go for
ProClarity or Panorama NovaView

No comparison!

A webserver

If you have a SQL Server license the Reporting Services is a free
addon. You can use Reporting Services for standard reporting and the
Reporting Services addins of ProClarity and Panorama NovaView for
making standard RS views based on OLAP data.

Ask your local dealer. Panorama NovaView can be ordered from our
website www.gmsbv.nl

You can use the server + web version of ProClarity and Panorama
NovaView.
On our website www.gmsbv.nl you will see some great working OLAP
internet websites where you can see the features and performance live.

Marco,

Thanks for the additional information.

Amongst the two ProClarity or NovaView which is (in your opinion):
1. Better
2. Cost wise comparision please

I'll visit the site and get more info. about Nova view. I am a little
confused - are u saying that clients (users) can ONLY browse the cubes
with ProClarity or NOvaView IFF we have IIS (Internet Information
Servcies) running and then ideally a Intranet? Can the client not
browse/analyze cubes using either of these products without requiring
IIS? The reason I'm asking is that Data Analyzer (regardless of where it
stands does not require IIS.

Kindly clarify.

Many thanks.

Hi,

Both, ProClarity and Nova view are also available as desktop client, no need
for IIS!
As Marco wrote, that additional service that you need is webserver. That is
only when you are buying a web based clients.

I can see here that Marco is from Panorama, but I have to say as independant
solution provider that both of products have some advantages.
Which one would be better to use it on you to decide regarding to your need,
need of your users.

Marco, sorry, but till now I've been choosing ProClarity for all of my
customers.

Peace,
Andrej
