Default String measure? - 08-11-2004 , 07:55 AM

hi

i'd like to add a string field from my fact table as a base measure in a
cube, but try as i might, i'm not able: "invalid filetype". i'd like it to
aggregate by max. could anyone give me a way of doing this? do i need to
create a virtual dimension?

urgent, greetings

Hi

You will have to somehow convert your field to some kind of numerical or
date/time format in order to use it as a measure within your cube.
Also, maybe you could simply make the text field available to clients
through standard drill-through or custom actions?

Hi,
thanks for your reply, I'll stop trying with your rightly discouraging
answers. I can't convert a 20 caracter text into number or date.

I'm thinking maybe I can join the information in Reporting Services. Does
anyone know if one can have 2 datasources in the same report, one connection
to the olap cube, and another to the fact table?

I'd like the text field to appear for each line fetched from the cube.

Greetings
